Within our Altrincham office, we are looking for a number of Senior Software Engineer's to bring technical expertise, significant experience and lead by example behaviour to our software development process.

What you’ll be doing

  • As a Senior Software Engineer you’ll be spending a majority of your time hands on in the production of software for the Matillion Products
  • Taking the lead on developing new architecture and designs across the company to ensure cohesive but loosely coupled solutions
  • Assisting in curating the team backlog to ensure the team are always working on the highest priority items
  • The prompt prioritisation and processing by the team of incoming bugs according to strategy
  • Assisting in developing new skills within the team through coaching and delegation
  • Discuss, establish and maintain the design patterns, framework selections and direction of the codebase
  • Recognition of problems and recasting difficult-to-solve problems in order to find unique and innovative solutions
  • Getting involved in recruitment and mentoring junior team members in developing their skills

What you’ll need

  • Demonstrable Java programming ability with in-depth understanding of underpinning techniques
  • Proven ability of tackling challenging projects
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Databases and query languages (SQL)
  • Experience in full software development life cycle from design to deployment using agile methodologies such as Kanban and Scrum
  • Object Oriented Design and Programming

Nice to haves

  • 2:1 degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or similar technical degree
  • Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure knowledge
  • Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, JUnit, GWT, Maven, Jenkins, Linux, Scripting for CLI, CICD, tool automation, etc

  • Next, show us what you are made of! Complete our technical java exercise (this is done remotely with no fixed deadline to work around you) 
  • Then, come into the office for a tour, meet some of the team, you’ll have your interview while you're here and perhaps a game of pool if you wish!
