Job Overview:

Comcast is in the process of constructing a converged orchestration layer of web based services for use by Comcast behind its key frontline employee and customer facing systems. The converged orchestration platform (code name "Convoy") will consolidate multiple legacy platforms into a single strategic cloud and micro-service based product that will accelerate delivery of new business features while reducing complexity and operational overhead.

Job Summary:

Within the context of the Convoy program, this role will be responsible for managing multiple cross-functional DevOps Scrum teams. The functional areas and responsibilities of the teams will include converting legacy platform service operations to strategic platform, rationalizing common features between legacy platforms, as well as maintaining and enhancing the legacy platforms based on prioritized projects. The candidate will be directly responsible for end-to-end delivery including architecture, design, development, deployment, testing, and support for these activities. Additionally, the candidate will oversee a number of employees and contractors and will be responsible for the performance, growth, and career development of those employees.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Directly managing one or two teams (approx. 1020 Engineers including full time employees and contractors), providing regular feedback and coaching regarding both job performance and career development
  • Overseeing the development and release of enhancements, new features and modifications to new and existing channels
  • Providing guidance to engineering team and other departments in identifying product and technical requirements
  • Serving as a primary point of contact and liaison between engineering and other teams
  • Partnering with constituent teams and technical leads to ensure teams follow SDLC processes and conventions, enabling success of applications' release schedules
  • Serving as product owner including definition of features, user stories, and roadmap for the team and ensuring compliance to the overall portfolio management process
  • Displays expertise in knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, and skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
  • Displays expertise in process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design, and technical choices to internal audiences.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education Level: Bachelors Degree or Equivalent; Master's Degree or MBA Preferred

Field of Study: Engineering, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Management

Years Experience: Generally requires previous experience in people, program, or delivery management.
