The Solution Developer - Java Technologies is a member of the IT organization, acts as the technical lead for a suite of Java based web solutions in support of our Vehicle Sales and Distribution team. Key responsibilities include designing and developing Java code to deliver business logic to business end users and project team. The Solution Developer works closely with a Project Lead (Business Consultant) to understand business requirements so that a scalable, solution design can be derived that meets customer requirements. The Solution Developer will lead and manage the technical development of the solution utilizing resources both on and off shore and will be responsible for the Java code developed by leading and participating in appropriate governance activities to ensure quality and adherence to MBUSA standards and guidelines.
Manages new and existing custom Java code for solution portfolio.
Constructs technical solution designs based on current architectural design patterns, SOLID coding principles, industry best practices and operational experience
Works closely with the Project Lead/Business Consultant to translate functional requirements into an effective technical design.
Manages the technical development of the technical design using a team of both on- and off-shore resources.
Leads and participates in appropriate governance activities to ensure custom code quality and adherence to MBUSA standards.
Ensures development team is providing appropriate high quality documentation
Provides hands-on Java development support of the solution when required
Provide 3rd level operational support, when required, to assist with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, or issue remediation
Participates in regularly scheduled and appropriate status meetings with all stakeholders, keeping the stakeholder’s needs and requirements continuously in view.
Reports on the operational status of Java solutions ensuring that they are operating in according to documented service level agreements.
Bachelor’s Degree (accredited school) with emphasis in:
Management Information System (MIS)
Must have 2 – 4 years (total) of experience in the following:
Administration - Knowledge of administrative procedures, process/project development, and system procedures.
Business - General - Knowledge of fundamental business practices and concepts that impact the success and profitability of the organization.
Business Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, human resource management and efficiency and process methods.
Communications Planning - Knowledge of marketing research sources and data analysis techniques, marketing plan development process, strategic and creative integration techniques, marketing team organization and operational processes.
Processing - Knowledge of processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques in order to achieve maximum efficiency.
Quality Assurance - Knowledge of accounting standards, statistical analysis, precision measurement, and process capability.
Familiarity with DB2 RDBMS
Familiarity in working on Unix, Linux and Windows
Familiarity with Spring, JPA, JIRA, Jenkins, CheckMarx, and Splunk.
Familiarity with SCRUM methodology.
Optional Familiarity with monitoring tools such as OpenView or Wily
Proficient with complex log file analysis, event correlation, and analysis of monitoring tool statistics and output
Ability to proactively monitor complex application systems and to provide performance trend analysis
Knowledge of Networking
Experience in work with and/or overseeing managed service resources on- and offshore is a plus
Independent thinker with the ability to work as an individual as well as a team member
Demonstrated problem solving skills and an aptitude for resolving contextual ambiguity
