Senior Linux System Administrator to join our Information Technology Infrastructure organization. This positon is responsible for facilitating the implementation of MBUSA's Linux Server technology strategy. Keeps abreast of industry trends and best practices, recommends appropriate hardware and software upgrades, serves as a systems expert and advisor and manages assigned projects. Provide expertise regarding the automation and integration of Linux-based server systems across the organization. Additionally must be able to achieve availability and performance objectives for MBUSA corporate Intel-based computer servers by providing analysis support and implementing projects and plans consistent with the Company's policies and procedures. Must be able to implement all necessary security features in compliance with the MBUSA Security Team policies.
Assist with the development of standards, guidelines and policies related to the design and architecture of Linux Server solutions. Review solution options, research and analyze alternatives and recommend solutions to business and technology leadership.
Develop methodologies to implement new and emerging hardware and software infrastructure. Oversee and review the research, analysis, selection, planning and engineering of Linux Server hardware and software components or enhancements.
Develop methods to test, debug, support, and analyze performance, and document hardware and software technology components. Manage highly complex hardware and software technology analysis, evaluation on resource requirements necessary to maintain and/or expand service levels or tune hardware and software components for optimum performance.
Build and support MBUSA INTEL server infrastructure which entails the configuration of physical and/or virtual hardware and the deployment of Network Operating System consistent with the Company’s policy and procedures. Ensure optimal level of customer support by providing 2nd and 3rd level support.
Responsible for defining server hardening guidelines in collaboration with Corporate Security team. Manage and recommend updates to information security policies and procedures for information technology assets.
Responsible for continuous automation of Operating System deployments and administrative tasks including zero touch implementations. Integrate with existing system management tools.
Develop and maintain system documentation and reference manuals for procedures, policies and inventory and ensure currency through periodic review, audit and maintenance.
Bachelor’s Degree (accredited school) with emphasis in:
Management Information System (MIS)
Must have 5 + years (total) of experience in the following:
Administration -> General Knowledge of administrative procedures, process/project development, and system procedures.
Business – General: Knowledge of fundamental business practices and concepts that impact the success and profitability of the organization.
Business Management: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, human resource management and efficiency and process methods.
Processing: Proficient Knowledge of processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques in order to achieve maximum efficiency.
Quality Assurance: Knowledge of accounting standards, statistical analysis, precision measurement, and process capability.
Ability to integrate information from a variety of sources with varied levels of complexity
Ability to resolve complex or critical incidents involving multiple enterprise services and components
Must demonstrate strong understanding of the core Linux operating system internals, services and skills to troubleshoot complex system, networking and security problems within the platform ecosystem
Ability to incorporate new technology into current and future business applications
Ability to develop and execute hardware and/or software test plans and test specifications
Understand management of systems in distributed environments
Project Management Skills:
Ability to develop plans/projects from conceptualization to implementation
Ability to work effectively across organizational and geographical boundaries
A minimum of 5 years of experience in an Information Systems environment required
Solid working knowledge of RedHat Enterprise Linux version 5/6/7. SUSE Enterprise 11/12 is a plus.
Strong working knowledge of scripting languages – Bash, Perl
Working knowledge of configuration management - Puppet and/or Ansible
Minimum 2 years’ experience working with systems management tools such as RedHat Satellite server
Experience with ITIL processes and methodologies for problem, change and incident management
Experience with vSphere virtualization technologies and Methodologies
Experience working with and troubleshooting TCP/IP, SSH/SCP, NTP, DNS and SMTP issues
Knowledge of SAN and iSCSI protocols and connectivity
Knowledge of CIFS, SMB, and NFS protocols is a plus
Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio
Ability to learn, evaluate new product releases, considering enhancement to existing or integration into our environment
Must have knowledge of end-user functions in order to recommend server solutions, as well as knowing the business at the departmental and corporate level
Should be familiar with cost/benefit analysis and contract review and negotiation and licensing arrangements
Excellent research, analytical, and troubleshooting skills are mandatory
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
