Job description

The Sr Manager, Cloud Infrastructure plays an important role in helping to define the cultural and technical direction for the teams and supporting the rapid-paced technology demands of the business. In alignment with SkyTouch’s vision and strategy, the Manager, Cloud Infrastructure expertly manages the DevOps and System Engineering teams with a deep level of technical understanding and a focus on AWS Cloud technologies. This role reports to the Sr. Director, Cloud Operations and Risk Management.  The number of individual contributor direct reports will be 8-12.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manages team activities in continuous alignment with the Architecture, Solution Delivery, and Information Security teams to design, implement, and optimize flexible, automated, secure, scalable, highly-available, and cost effective Cloud infrastructure solutions.
  • Manages incoming demand, prioritize team work assignments, and ensure commitments are consistently achieved in alignment with company priorities.
  • Develops, collects, and evaluates KPI’s including but not limited to infrastructure efficiency, reliability, supportability, recoverability, team capacity and team performance.
  • Manages team participation in the enforcement and processes for PCI-DSS and SOX compliance initiatives.
  • Collaborates with the production support teams to develop documentation and supportability standards to ensure infrastructure solutions can be operated, supported, and maintained after handoff.
  • Drives continuous improvement of the product infrastructure by measuring against KPI’s including but not limited to deployment automation, environment health, and Cloud infrastructure costs.
  • Ensures optimal staffing and talent requirements for the teams are met to achieve company outcomes.
  • Sets reasonable stretch performance goals, providing constructive, balanced, regular performance feedback, and conducting semi-annual performance appraisals. 

  • Collaborates with direct reports on their professional development and growth.

  • Continually keeps up on industry trends, direction, and opportunities.
 
SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience and proven success in managing technical teams in a fast-paced, dynamic customer-facing software business. Knowledge of industry best practices for software development, IT life cycles, HR life cycles, mentoring and leadership of diverse IT professionals.
  • Deep understanding of the concepts, technologies,  and cost management of AWS
  • Familiarity with most of these AWS technologies is expected:
    • Cloud Formation
    • EC2
    • VPCs
    • ECS
    • S3
    • Route53
    • ELB
    • RDS
    • Aurora
    • Lambda
  • Proven experience building and leading high performance technical infrastructure teams such as systems engineers, systems administrators, and Cloud engineers
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Technical expertise in an IT vertical, such as product support, software development, networking, architecture, quality assurance, or system administration.

  • Experience working with software development management, source control, and collaboration tool suites such as Atlassian JIRA, JIRA Service Desk, Confluence, BitBucket, Rally, etc
