Your Responsibilities As a Software Designer, your key responsibilities will include:
â¢Focus on how the software being developed can benefit our customers and ensure that work undertaken is in the best interests of those customers â¢Instil a customer focussed ethic within the team, ensuring that the customer is at the heart of everything they do â¢Build relationships with other members of the delivery team, the department and the banks wider technical community â¢Define the strategic vision of the team from a technical perspective â¢Deliver that vision by developing software and tools to meet project objectives â¢Ensure work done is aligned to the principles of software development within RBS â¢Attend RBS internal technical events to widen technical knowledge and encourage the team to do the same â¢Apply appropriate development methodologies where necessary â¢Deliver work as agreed with line management / project management. â¢Raise issues and concerns to your line manager at the earliest possible opportunity â¢Own the development of code delivered by your team, based on requirements delivered from the business and the testing of that code to ensure that it is robust and meets the requirements laid out. â¢Support UAT and testing requirement during monthly release cycle. â¢Developing monthly SAS reporting datasets which are critical for Credit Risk Reporting. â¢Perform risk analysis and developing business dashboards involving key risk metrics which serve as catalyst to build and generate critical bank wide reports. â¢Designing control framework using SAS and Excel to uncover trend, recommend business solutions and implement strategic initiatives
â¢The Skills youâll need In order to be successful in this role, you must have the following skills & experience: ï§Relevant Work experience of 5+ years ï§Significant experience & demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of SAS Data Integration Studio(DI Studio), SAS Management Console, SAS Enterprise Guide, Macros, SAS VA, Teradata (or similar database technology) ï§Working knowledge of SAS Debug options and process. ï§Experience of SAS Stored process and ability to create user friendly SAS stored process web applications. ï§Working knowledge of Unix/Shell scripting ï§Solid facilitation skills to gather the necessary information to document and/or develop a plan - strategic/tactical ï§Participate in meetings and discussions with Functional/Technical Leads to understand the requirements and work out a design ï§Experience in Big Data (Hadoop) will be an added advantage ï§Participate in code reviews and ensure the code written complies with the company standards and policies ï§Interact with all levels of an organization in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner ï§Able to quickly understand and familiarise themselves with complex systems ï§Ability to learn the technical specifics of the given project ï§Understanding of good development and testing practices ï§Ability to learn organisation internal project governances/delivery methodologies
