Job description

Are you a JavaScript Developer looking for the chance to impact our user-centric MVP?

Would you love the opportunity to join a flat structure where you can both learn from and support your team?

Join the retail revolution!

You’ll be working on large greenfield projects that will expand our global product, using React, Redux and/or Node.js.

Our 17-strong Agile tech team is made up for full-stack engineers, back-end engineers, QAs, and front-end engineers. As part of a small team you will get a great opportunity to make an impact on our greenfield application, which is iterative and continually evolving. You will join our collaborative environment where learning and development is prioritised, so you will be exposed to new tech and will get the opportunity to be exposed to tickets outside of your comfort zone.

We are a small, yet growing, team and as such expect all of our engineers to work with an aspect of independence, capable of creating strong work whilst keeping everyone in the loop, pairing when support is required, and expanding difficult problems to the wider team if you can’t solve it quickly. Collaboration is a key part of making our team function; we actively promote an open environment whilst giving you the freedom and independence to achieve your goals.

To be a successful JavaScript Developer at Concrete, you will:

  • have experience with JavaScript (ES6+), ideally with any modern framework (Angular, Vue, Ember, Backbone, or even React)
  • be open to learning / expanding on your knowledge of React or Node.js
  • understand how to dissect an API, find its function and how to integrate it into a project
  • be able to unit test your own code
  • be a fluent collaborator, able to pitch in where necessary and loop in other team members when required to ensure a smooth and streamlined process
  • be an independent thinker, with experience in challenging current processes to support improvements for the team or company
  • be passionate about technology, being continually excited to work with and learn about new tech

We are undergoing a growth period and expanding our engineering team at a sustainable pace. The majority of engineers that have joined us so far have been extremely successful in adapting to our tech stack. Our Engineering Leads have created an environment where you will get great support from the entire team as you become a JavaScript / React / Node.js ninja!

Concrete offers a healthcare scheme, 25 days’ holiday + bank holidays, and a flexible 2-day/week work-from-home policy – as well as an awesome, social, and welcoming team!

This is an opportunity any ambitious JavaScript Developer would not want to miss out on!

Concrete work in partnership with Talent Point, a Hiring Communications business, who have been engaged to support Concrete exclusively in all their tech hiring. When you apply, Amelia or Abbie will give you a call to discuss this opportunity in more detail and will support you throughout the process.
